Manuel Gomes

Hello, I am Manuel Gomes! I am a Robotics Ph.D. student with IEETA at the University of Aveiro. My Ph.D. is done in collaboration with TAMS at the University of Hamburg and CVC at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

My research interests range from the application of deep learning and reinforcement learning to robotics, to the development of algorithms for robot perception, calibration and control. I am particularly interested in allowing robots to understand their environment and to interact with it in a safe and efficient way.

I received my Integrated M.Sc. (M.Sc. and B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aveiro in 2021, with a Master’s thesis on the development of a calibration framework for mobile robots.

I am awarded the 2023 FCT Ph.D. Scholarship.
